【摘要】:Thetestingprocedureinthistestmethodforthedeterminationofstaplelengthisconsideredsatisfactoryforacceptancetestingofcommercialshipmentsofgreasewoolsincethetestmethodhasbeenusedinthetradeforacceptancetesting.Incaseofadisputearisingfromdifferencesinreportedtestresultswhenusingthistestmethodforacceptancetestingofcommercialshipments,thepurchaserandthesuppliershouldconductcomparativeteststodetermineifthereisastatisticalbiasbetweentheirlaboratories.Competentstatisticalassistanceisrecommendedfortheinvestigationofbias.Asaminimum,thetwopartiesshouldtakeagroupoftestspecimensthatareashomogeneousaspossibleandthatarefromalotofmaterialofthetypeinquestion.Thetestspecimensshouldthenberandomlyassignedinequalnumberstoeachlaboratoryfortesting.TheaverageresultsfromthetwolaboratoriesshouldbecomparedusingStudent''st-testforunpaireddataandanacceptableprobabilitylevelchosenbythetwopartiesbeforethetestingisbegun.Ifabiasisfound,eitheritscausemustbefoundandcorrected,orthepurchaserandthesuppliermustagreetointerpretfuturetestresultsinthelightoftheknownbias.Thetestmethodisusedforthedeterminationoftheaverageunstretchedstaplelengthandthestaplelengthdistributionofalotofwoolinordertoassignlengthclasseswhendeterminingtheconformanceoflotsandshipmentstolengthspecifications.Inthistestmethod,thesizeofalotcoveredbythetestprocedureislimitedtonotmorethan200packagespertest.Anyshipmentexceedingtheabovelimitsisdividedintolotswithintheprescribedlimits.Thenatureofthesamplingprocedureissuchthatgreasewoolstaplesasoriginallydrawnfromthewoolofthelotrequireonlyaslightamountofpreparationbeforemeasurement.Thebulkandlaboratorysamplesaresynonymousinthistestmethod.Compressionofwoolinthebalemakesitdifficulttopenetratetheinteriorofthebalewiththesamplingtool.However,staplescanbedrawnfromthesurfaceofthebalewiththesamplingtoolorbyhand.PracticeD4271containsinformationonhowtowriteasectiononsamplingintestmethods.Note28212;Anextensivediscussionofgreasewoolstaplesamplingcanbefoundintheliterature.
